Seriously! What the hell! GRUB is a pain in the ass!
I'd like to see a version of GRUB that can actually read and write files other than the bootloader itself. I'm lazy and I don't feel like coding an ATA driver just so people can install my OS to a hard drive.
Bleargh.

Writing is fun
I've been writing the sequel to Blasterman Adventures and I'm up to 13,400 words, with still close to a year of in-story time to go...
The writer's block is gone, mainly because I found some material meant for a YouTube series that seemed to work in the novel with little to no modification. Whee!

"Wikipedia fails again"
This is just a little response to this post at the xkcd fora under the "Serious Business" forum. If you feel like commenting, don't go apeshit on each other/me.
Wikipedia, in my opinion, it 80% facts, 10% incorrect facts, and 10% bullshit. It's mostly useful information, but in regards to some subjects, such as major companies occasionally under criticism, it's often crap.

Citizendium is, for those who don't know, a wiki using the MediaWiki software that Wikipedia uses to create an alternative encyclopedia that requires authors to request an account and contribute using their whole name as a username in order to keep the spam level down to a minimum. Wikipedia-style editors are known as authors. Editors on Citizendium are more like sysops but without all the administrator powers. Editors must submit a CV or resume to Citizendium in order to apply. A Citizendium constable replies to your application within 24 hours.
Citizendium appears to have what Wikipedia lacks the most: the complete truth. Although many pages are small and/or false, this is mainly due to what looks like a lack of knowledge on behalf of the authors. For example, the page on Intel, the processor manufacturer, says that the 8080 was "the lineal ancestor of the Pentium" and that it was "used in several of the first home computers, like the Altair 8080 and the Imsai 8080." It was the "Altair 8800" that used the Intel 8080, there was no "Altair 8080" system.
Wikipedia seems to be slowly decaying into a state of anarchy and crap, although it's still steadily growing. I really don't edit Wikipedia anymore, mainly because it's either too hopeless or all the knowledge I have on a subject is already in an article.
Ah well. I expect great things from Citizendium. I applied for an account this morning and I hope for one by tomorrow. If you have a great deal of knowledge, I encourage you to join this Wikipedia alternative.

One effort to make a more reliable online encyclopaedia is Citizendium. It is the same as Wikipedia, only you have to register with your real name to edit. Also, there are experts who review articles. I think it's a good model, probably better than Wikipedia given the restrictions of the modern day human psyche, but it doesn't seem to me that it would be possible to achieve your ideal no matter the system.
